Benoy K Behl)

India-Taipei Association in cooperation with the National Central Library of Taiwan has organized a unique exhibition of India’s Refined Culture in Taipei. The exhibition, which opened on July 6, 2010 in the central foyer of the National Central Library in Taipei would run till July 18, 2010.
The exhibition encompasses the holy Buddhist sites and relics in India including many World Heritage sites, a photographic exhibition on the life of Father of the Indian Nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (1869-1948), as well as contemporary publications from India.
India’s culture has a dazzling diversity of flourishing achievements—in religion, mathematics, medicine, philosophy and other such fields and has been a profoundly influential force throughout Asia. One of the most significant Indian influences on the religions and cultures of Asia has been Buddhism. The first of the exhibitions in the National Central Library titled “The Path of Compassion,” is a photographic exhibition by renowned photographer Benoy K. Behl, which provides a panoramic tour of the sites and relics associated with the Buddha’s life, from his birthplace, to the beginning of the path, to the first sermon, to enlightenment and finally to his passing, all seen through the lens of the camera. The artist’s work encompasses the heritage and priceless relics of both Theraveda and Mahayana branches of Buddhism.
The second part is the photo-exhibition titled “Life of Mahatma Gandhi - Apostle of Peace” which is a selection of fifty photographs spanning the most important events in Mahatma Gandhi’s life which convey a complete portrait of his spiritual quest for the abiding truth.
Finally, to deepen the cultural interaction between Taiwan and India, ITA has made a special donation of over 150 books and other materials that cast light on a variety of diverse India-related topics such as government, economy, society, culture, important figures, and life in India. All these 3 exhibitions are on display together at the National Central Library.
At the occasion of the Opening Ceremony of the Exhibition, an MOU for cooperation in Academic and Cultural Exchanges has also been signed between India-Taipei Association and National Central Library.
