據印度工商業聯合會（FICCI）報告表示，印度是世界第2大水果及蔬菜生產國，農產品占全球產量10%，其食品市場2006至2007年度總值約2,000億美元，估計到2015年將增加1,000億美元，達到3,000億美元，其中食品加工業將成長43%至50%。印度政府並將食品加工業列為2007~2012第11個5年國家發展計畫的高度優先發展項目，未來兩年內預計募集235億美元的投資。

According to a report published by the Federation of Indian Chambers and Commerce (FICCI), India is the second largest producer of fruit and vegetable in the world, her agricultural production is approximately 10% of the world’s total output. The total value of Indian food market in 2006 to 2007 is about 200 billion USD, and it is expected to grow to 300 billion USD by the year 2015, in which the food processing sector is expected to grow 43% to 50%. The government of India had listed food processing industry to be the one of the primary development sector in the 11th Five Year Plan, starting from 2007-2012. The government is also planning to attract an investment amount of 23.5 billion USD in the next two years into this sector.
In order to help the Taiwanese industry to diversify their investment, and assist them in developing investment opportunities in the Indian industry, together with the Department of Investment Services, Taiwanese Ministry of Economic Affairs, the India-Taipei Association (ITA) invited Mr. C. Prabhu, who is an expert on Indian food processing industry, to give an introduction on investment opportunities in the Indian food processing sector, to the Taiwanese business community. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about Indian food processing industry.
